The right words when you need them most…

Sometimes there are just not words. And sometimes you need someone else to get them out for you. and Plethora of Words are here to assist you in your darkest hour!

She is gone, and I am broken. You all have your stories, the good, the bad and the ugly. But they all have one ending – Jenny loved life! Jenny was our mum and we loved her. Finding her as we did will stay with us forever – Gone, but gone peacefully and doing what she loved, reading!

She could be difficult, tactless, and rude, as well as a shameless flirt. But she also lived and loved with fire in her heart – She was fun and energetic. Her lust for life was infectious, though her cooking, dancing and earrings left much to be desired!

Jenny was a good friend, always on hand with an opinion, a large glass of wine and the offer of a theatre trip – A woman who loved her cruises and parties, as well as her volunteering at the British Heart Foundation shop.

She was a loving wife to Dad, but always a free spirit, one who had to have her way. If he could, he would be here thanking you all for coming and showing your support, but we will not put him through something he no longer understands.

Jenny was an outstanding nan; Noah James was loved beyond words. Of this there is no contestation. He was her sun, her moon, and she would have given him the stars…

Some may say she was too obsessed, but we’re grateful of this, we smile approvingly at this! And there are just too many amazing memories of her devotion to him for me to begin. Of us all, he will miss her the most.

We did not always see eye to eye, both too headstrong perhaps. But as Noah’s Nanny, she made me, us amazingly proud every single day, and I told her this only days before she left us. She got it right with Noah.

She was my nemesis, my friend, my mum, my regal pain in the ass and there are no words to describe how much I miss her. Who will I argue with now. Who will just appear and drink my wine now. Who will I roll my eyes at and shake my head at.  Who will I love and hate with all I have. And who will hang my wallpaper?

These weeks have taught me this – Forgive quickly, love freely, and take nothing for granted! Live life with passion and love because you never know how long you have left! Our Mum, your friend Jenny Burke, went to sleep on 25th July but forgot to say goodbye.

Written by Vanessa Streete for Jennifer Ann Burke, 27th June 1949 to 25th July 2021.

Did someone say out-out?

Thousands upon thousands of us have just been through possibly the strangest and most stressful experience of our lives over the last year, and yet we are still not out of the woods. We have all missed the very touch of loved ones and watched many pass away without the ability to even hold a hand. And it has broken us.

Happy Birthday!

We’ve missed hugging and chatting at close quarters with friends and loved ones. We have missed Christmas, those drinks in that bar we only enter at that time of year.

All of us have missed out on blowing out candles on birthday cakes. We have missed lazy meanders around the shops followed by dinner and the cinema. We have missed simply saying ‘sure, pop over for a glass of wine or a coffee’. Put frankly, we have missed humans!

Missed too is business interaction. Face to face is always best they say – A fact that has unfortunately been proven wrong in the last year on some accounts. And may we now please take a moment for those who’s businesses have suffered great losses because of it.

We promise we will return to your shops and restaurants and clubs and pubs as soon as we are able! We’ll have you through the door to quote for flooring and wardrobes and extensions as soon as we can!

Frinton on Sea

I’ll freely admit that despite the sparkly ‘social media’ exterior, it has been at times a pile of &%$£ here too!

I never appreciated before last year, just being able to go somewhere, anywhere. Or pop into the care home my beautiful beloved dad is in, even just in passing. I did not appreciate the stunning area in which I live, with all its beautiful walks and tracks and trails.

I did not appreciate being able to hop into the car and just visit a friend or grab a coffee with a client. I didn’t appreciate simply being alive.

“On the other side of this coin, great new things and new friendships have emerged.”

Random DPD Delivery

We have engaged way more with the postie, who’s name we actually now know. We have laughed with the DPD driver who appears more frequently of late with those ‘must have’ purchases (or in my case daily with those ‘why did I order that’ purchases).

John’s Cute Pooch

The bloke that walks his dog past your house, you now know that he’s called John and his scruffy pooch is called Eric.

It’s John’s birthday tomorrow and there is a card now written, waiting by the front door for him as he passes.

He’s a widow and hasn’t seen his family who live up north in what he says feels like forever… You know now that card will make his day!

Our kids now know not to walk in on a business zoom with the loud ‘what’s in the fridge’ question or ‘I hate maths’ statement. They have learned self-sufficiency (or some have). They are capable of googling more than hacks for their online games now and have a new sense of purpose.

My own son has learned to cook properly, use appliances, and loads of other fantastic life skills whilst tucked away at home (I’ll clear this up now, it’s not child labour – It’s education!). Would any of this have happened when things were normal?

“Most of all we have forged new friendships online.”

I for one now look forward to certain zooms and networking groups with people who I am fast considering true ‘friends’.

They know more about me than they may have learned in a formal or office environment. Seeing me late on to the call, or fresh from my bed, complete with no make up and weird hair.

We have talked openly about everything from having the kids at home and driving us insane, to how our businesses will adjust to survive. And in all this we have bolstered up lacking enthusiasm when it has been needed. We have private messaged when we know it has been required. We have had strange, yet thoughtful gifts delivered to raise the spirits and shared posts, services and businesses we would never have thought to previously, in that other life.

I write this, because as we are on the cusp of re-entering the real world, ready to emerge, legs shaved, face made up and in heels (and a bra) I want to ask each of you to think back on this last year. Yes, it’s been God awful, we have cried, hurt, shouted, screamed and on occasion wanted to throw in the towel. But please just sit and be still for a moment… Look at what we have achieved!

Humanity and kindness

Look at how much we have all accomplished, be it incredibly amazing, or for some, simply survived. Look at just how resilient we have become! Look at the humanity we have shown!

From our perfectly tidy shelves and cupboards to new ways of doing business. From newfound friendships and alliances to new-fangled routines of leaving a bottle of wine on the neighbour’s doorstep…

It’s all been amazing, and you did that!

Let’s not lose all this upon slamming the front door behind us and heading for the taxi! Let’s have learned from all this and be as kind and compassionate going forward as we have been from the strange sanctity of our make-shift home office spaces.

I for one will be appreciating what I do have far more than I would l have before all of this… (I may even stay off the booze and continue with the shameful pooch walks where my puppy decided that the best place to sit down is in the middle of the road or throw herself at passers-by for additional love)!

Whatever you are going to do, do it well, and do it with a happy heart!

Stay safe one and all…

Ness, Chief wordy person at Plethora of Words

Here we are… Again!

Just when we thought it was all over and the new year, year you, new plans, new everything was on the tip of your tongue – We are back into lockdown!

And to top it all, most of us are now also juggling inspirational teaching and on-line learning from home for the foreseeable future too!

We only just go the house back in order from Christmas and already the kitchen has become a classroom and the orderly space which is your home office is now ready for hours of on-line learning.

Though at this stage, we can highly recommend the offer of gaffa tape for ensuring staying on the make-shift classroom chair.

And the cold threat of permanent x-box removal, for real dedicated learning time from your offspring – It’s a genuine tip – Tried and tested only this last week!

This chaos aside, Plethora of Words started 2021 with a flurry of requests for assistance from clients struggling with how to get online and how to stay afloat – And we were able to oblige. (Despite the above mentioned household carnage here too!).

We have been very very busy:

  • Updating Websites & adding Website Pages
  • Providing Snappy Little Company Videos
  • Updating LinkedIn Pages & Client Bios
  • Writing fresh Blogs and Articles
  • Getting out Press Releases for New Ventures
  • Offering Product Launch Assistance
  • Writing Facebook & LinkedIn Posts
  • Providing virtual hugs, coffee, gas, air and gin!

Whether you simply want your current website freshened up or have a brand-new message to get out there. Our ‘wordy’ team can phrase you perfectly.

Just let us know what you want to say, and we’ll do the rest! And the cost, the cost is minimal! We’re here to help in these troubled times!

We love seeing our literary efforts, even from an incredibly quiet and discrete corner of the room. So please do not be shy in asking for our assistance. We can aid you on the ‘back-end’ as it were. And are more than happy to provide confidentiality assurances before a word is even uttered, let alone written.

For more information on how we can literally take the literary pressure off you, so you can get on with what you do best. The business of running your business. Please get in touch today by email at info@plethoraofwords.co.uk.

“For the words you don’t have in you, we are here”

We were recently asked to write a eulogy.

At first, I was a little bit like, ‘seriously’, can’t you think of anything to say yourself?

Then I was taken back to the passing of my own beloved sister, who would have been fifty next week.

A painful task…

I had no words when she died on Father’s Day back in 2013 because I did not want to admit that she was actually gone. If I spoke it out loud, it made it real and I was just not ready to be an only child, wasn’t ready to be without my sister.

It was then that I recalled that agonising ache. That scream that just would not come out that made me feel sick inside. The naked need to ensure that the whole world was aware of her existence. The need to shout that she was loved and was missed!

So, after a few tears spilled we have produced the perfect send off for an absolutely loved family member and adored friend. At Plethora of Words, we don’t just write website content and happy social media posts. We’re here when you need us most…

“For the words you don’t have in you, we are here”

(Published with the blessing of our Client, to whom we extend our deepest condolences)

On virtually every surface you will ever encounter, be it at work or in the home, shopping, using a sports or spa facility, on a park bench, on public transport or on an aeroplane, viruses such as Covid-19 and MRSA, norovirus, influenza and E. Plethora’s Origins

Plethora’s Origins – Having always written one thing or another it was safe to assume that Ness Streete, The Managing Director of Plethora of Words Limited was always going to be a purveyor of words.

Right from day dot she’s written letters, CV’s, and articles for friends and family. She has always managed to come up with the right phrases when they have been required, though on occasion they have been known to be peppered with expletives.

Back in 2018, after years of ‘I’ll finish it next year’ she had her first novel published traditionally through Olympia of London. Like China https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1788300262/ was very well received by a varied range of readers and it has been a success both in the UK and Internationally. And she still gets a kick when she see it on a shelf in a book shop or the library even now.

In 2019 Ness was fortunate enough to be offered the exciting role of Projects Manager with the incredibly talented team of creative minds under Kate Everett and Janice Walker at The Write Impression, a prestigious PR & Communications company. Then Covid-19 hit and unfortunately the role was no more. But with the support of Kate and the team, her fabulous husband Paul and some incredible friends, after two bottle of prosecco and some ‘throw it to the wind’ statements of ‘what’s the worse than can happen’, Plethora of Words Limited was born.

That was just a month ago – Yes, a month ago! We are still sitting here in bewildered awe of how, in less than a calendar month we are up with the lark and still typing at dusk. We’re writing content for some incredible and prestigious clients who are proudly putting it out there that they love the work produced at www.PlethoraofWords.co.uk.

Already within Plethora’s Origins portfolio are web designers, an IFA, an award-winning builder, a quantity surveyor, estate agents, a prestigious private gym, sign writers, a waste clearance business, geotechnical land drilling specialists, branding and graphic designers, recruitment companies, a cleaning and sanitising business, educational sector clients and a virtual assistance company to list but a few. And we still have space for more!

If you think we can assist you or your business with all things literary, then please do get in touch. We offer affordable expert freelance content and copy writing services to a plethora (see what we did there) of small and medium size business throughout the United Kingdom. From website content to re-writes and general updates, blogs and articles, social media posts and more, Plethora of Words Limited should be your only choice for the literary stuff.
